Last
year, with Windows on the Street, our streetpeace
youth brought passion and power to the words of great peacemakers
like Ghandi, Martin Luther King and Mother Theresa.
This
year, with PLAYGROUND [R]EVOLUTION, streetpeace will
challenge us to take a new look at playgrounds and take a first look at the virtual
worlds our kids inhabit. The play exposes how our
youth are influenced by games that exploit women and encourage violence.
Some of the language drawn from the games is disturbing.
Youth Center youth will intensify the conversation with a powerful art
exhibit, with perspectives on these same themes.
This
is the event everyone talks about… the one where the youth are the
teachers and the adults realize they have a lot to learn.
Please join us. Thursday, May 12, 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. Sinclair Community
College, Ponitz Center, Building 12.
Tickets $35

Donations

The
gifts of our donors and supporters make it possible for East End
to reach out to children, teens, families, adults and the
elderly in one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in
Dayton.
Your
gift helps us work with the following target populations,
changing lives and improving the community.
We reach:
-
More than 400 children and teens
are served in our afterschool, summer programs and teen
programs every year. These programs help children and teens
improve their grades, remain engaged in school and make
healthy choices. Afterschool and summer programming is
helping students improve their scores on the Ohio
Achievement Tests. More than 90% increased their scores
on the EDUSS software.
-
More than 700
parents and individuals
are assisted each year with finding employment or securing
housing, health care or other crucial services, provided by
bilingual and trilingual staff.
-
1,400 households
living in Twin Towers benefit from activities that improve
the quality of housing and life in our neighborhoods.
We were able to work with the police and neighbors in
order to reduce crime by 35%. We are working on a project
to improve 25% of the housing stock. 40 new green,
energy-efficient homes have been built.
-
Neighbors receive
training on financial literacy and a wide array of other
topics. Cultural events and festivals reach hundreds of
persons at each event.
Your gift helps children succeed and enables young struggling
families improve the quality of their life through employment,
education and training. Your donation is crucial during this
time when we are experiencing state and county budget cuts and
are seeing more children that need our services.

The Circle of Neighbors includes the following giving levels.
Visionary $2,500 and Up
Founder $1,000 to $2499
Investor $500 to $999
Builder $250 to $499
Friend $5 to 249
