Dayton Promise Neighborhood Community

Promise Neighborhoods planning will explore the strengths, capacity and needs within each neighborhood.  The target zones include: the neighborhoods surrounding Ruskin PreK-8 School and Edison PreK-8 School.  While these neighborhoods face significant challenges with poverty, crime, and unemployment, these communities are also home to organizations, citizen groups, churches, schools and other resources that have capacities that are being brought to bear to meet the needs of children and their families.   The planning process will explore the medical, dental, behavioral health, and social service needs of children and their family members.  The group will also look at issues that affect family stability including employment, housing, neighborhood safety and community belonging.

The following interactive map can be used to explore the area around Ruskin PreK-8 School and Edison.

We have many partners in this process and want to encourage neighbors, parents, faith based groups, churches and others to participate in this planning process.

There are groups that will address each one of these areas.  Your involvement is crucial to this effort.  If you are interested in serving on one or more committees, please contact Amy Jomantas at ajomantas@east-end.org.
