Volunteers are essential to the work of East End
Community Services. Our neighborhood residents
volunteer at various projects through out the
year, helping with the Appalachian Festival,
performing as part of the Latino Dance Troupe
Sol Azteca, painting houses or making meals for
families.
The youth volunteer at festivals, help at
agencies like the Battered Women's Projects or
do projects with the seniors at Twin Towers
Place or work with terminally ill patients at
Hospice. Streetpeace youth took on service
projects that included creating their own
Neighborhood Investment Bank to spur businesses
and organizations sponsoring neighborhood
projects that were completed by the middle
school youth. Each year, our neighborhood
adults and youth volunteer more than 2,500 hours
helping improve the community.
East End is truly fortunate to have volunteers
who live outside the target neighborhoods who
also help with tutoring, assist with
neighborhood beautification projects and other
endeavors. Our volunteers include students and
other individuals from all walks of life who are
committed to seeing the children and families in
east Dayton neighborhoods succeed.
Volunteer with our Children or
Teens or Other Programs!
Currently, we are
recruiting volunteers to work with our summer
program or to serve as tutors or staff helpers
in the Fall. For more information about
volunteering, please click on the links below.
You will see a PowerPoint training regarding our
volunteer opportunities. Volunteers
really make a difference in tutoring, giving
youth the chance to learn new skills and receive
encouragement. We also have volunteers
that are acting as mentor, sharing their skills.
We have volunteers helping youth formulate a
newspaper, create graffiti, create doors painted
with their aspirations, put together models and
learn the science of cooking.
